We congratulate Jakob Schanda on his habilitation
Jakob Schanda, member of the shoulder regeneration group at LBI Trauma, recently completed his habilitation in the field of orthopaedics and traumatology. At his young age, Jakob can already look back on a remarkable career with numerous significant achievements.
With a background in clinical traumatology and orthopaedics, Jakob works at the clinic since 2015 and has been a specialist at the AUVA Trauma Centre Vienna since December 2021. His focus is on the treatment of shoulder injuries and diseases. In addition to his clinical work, Jakob is also highly active in research and has already received numerous awards – including the ÖGU Science Award for the best experimental work in the field of trauma surgery and the ON/AGA Orthoregeneration Award. Both awards went to his work for the study “Zoledronic Acid Substantially Improves Bone Microarchitecture and Biomechanical Properties After Rotator Cuff Repair in a Rodent Chronic Defect Model“, published in the renowned American Journal of Sports Medicine.
Scientists like Jakob, who form an interface between research and clinical practice, are a cornerstone of the research model at the LBI Trauma. They promote active knowledge transfer and ensure that our research really does address current clinical issues. We congratulate Jakob on his habilitation and look forward to his future contributions to orthopaedics and traumatology.
