Saying farewell to Claudia Wilfing

On February 2 we said goodbye to Claudia Wilfing after many years at LBI Trauma. With a career marked by many successes, Claudia accompanied the institute for decades.

Claudia’s professional history took its course at the Serology Laboratory of the 2nd Vienna University Dermatology Clinic, after which she managed a laboratory in Kenya as part of development aid and was finally first welcomed to LBI Trauma in 1980. A position in the Treatment Economics department of the Vienna Local Health Insurance Fund and professional political activities followed. Claudia became chairperson of the Association of Certified Medical-Technical Assistants of Austria (today: “Bio-Medical Analyst” BMA in Austria, “biomedical scientist” internationally) in 1991 and represented the Austrian MTAs in several projects of the European Union and as member of the international board. Finally, in cooperation with the Vienna Chamber of Labour, Claudia paved the way for the creation of a new occupational profile: the additional training to become a “clinical study administrator” for MTAs. The Austrian Ministry for Education, Science and Art awarded her with the title Professor for her achievements. Until last, Claudia accompanied our CCSRM group (Clinical Center for Studies in Regenerative Medicine) in coordinating clinical studies.
