The Paracelsus Medical University (PMU) annually gives out the Paracelsus Science award, a research award in the four categories Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze. Thanks to their outstanding research activities and numerous publications in 2018, the group around Herbert Schöchl was able to claim Gold for the third time. Already in 2015 and 2016 they received this honor, in 2017 the researchers achieved Platinum.

The group’s work in the field of trauma-induced coagulopathies attracted worldwide attention. The “Austrian way” of individualized coagulation therapy helps to reduce the need for valuable blood bags while increasing the chance of survival after severe trauma.
