Thomas Hausner, clinical director of the LBI Trauma, wants to bring the concept of the “Lean Hospital” to Austria. In a recent article in the Austrian daily newspaper DiePresse he explains how the Lorenz Böhler Trauma Center can reduce bureaucracy, shorten paths and make patients the center of attention.

“I do not want to optimize, just for the sake of optimizing, but to have more time for my patients,” says Hausner, “because that’s my core business, for which there is not enough time under the current conditions.” Freeing doctors of administrative tasks will enable them to spend more time on interacting with the patients.
