LBI Trauma at the Vienna Business Run – raising awareness of sepsis
To mark World Sepsis Month this year, LBI Trauma proudly took part in the Vienna Business Run 2024 – a great opportunity not only to show athletic team spirit, but also to raise awareness of sepsis as part of World Sepsis Month. With our three teams – ‘Lab Legends’, ‘Trauma Transformers’ and ‘Trauma Run’ – we took on the challenge and showed that perseverance and teamwork are the key to success both in the lab and on the running track.
Sepsis is a life-threatening disease that affects millions of people every year. What many people do not realise is that three out of four survivors suffer from long-term consequences, the so-called post-sepsis syndrome, which includes physical, cognitive and psychological impairments. As a member of the BEATsepsis consortium, we are conducting intensive research into recognising and possibly preventing these long-term consequences in order to improve the lives of sepsis survivors in the long term.
We are looking forward to many more milestones – both in research and in our careers!
