Priv.-Doz. DDr. Jakob Schanda is a specialist in orthopaedics and traumatology at the AUVA Trauma Centre Vienna, Meidling site and a member of the shoulder regeneration team at LBI Traumatology. He specialises in the treatment of shoulder injuries and diseases.

Jakob has extensive clinical experience and a successful scientific career. In addition to his clinical and scientific activities, Jakob is a member of several medical societies, including the Austrian Society for Trauma Surgery (ÖGU), the Austrian Society for Orthopaedics and Traumatology (ÖGOuT), the Society for Arthroscopy and Joint Surgery (AGA), the European Society for Shoulder and Elbow Surgery (SECEC-ESSSE) and the European Society for Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy (ESSKA). Jakob is also a board member of the Austrian Society for Bone and Mineral Metabolism (ÖGKM). He has received several awards for his scientific contributions in the field of orthopaedics and traumatology, including the ÖGU Science Award and the ON/AGA Orthoregeneration Award.

Jakob received the International Societies Best Paper Award from the European Society for Shoulder and Elbow Surgery for his research on rotator cuff regeneration using concomitant anti-osteoporotic therapy with zoledronic acid. His studies on this topic have been published in the renowned American Journal of Sports Medicine, among others. Jakob is also a private lecturer in orthopaedics and traumatology at the Medical University of Vienna.
