Karin works on the establishment of a methodology for isolation and labeling of adipose tissue-derived extracellular vesicles (EV) which are in the focus of modern medicine as natural transporters for drug delivery. Containing cell type-specific proteins, enzymes, growth factors, cytokines and miRNA among others EV represent small natural therapeutic vehicles for cell and tissue regeneration. In cooperation with the FH OÖ Linz, Karin establishes an imaging system for precise localization and tracking of vesicles derived from cells from adipose tissue using super resolution fluorescence microscopy (dSTORM).
