Johannes Mitterbauer completed a Bachelor’s degree in Technical Physics and a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering at TU Wien. In his Master’s thesis, he investigated wound healing processes in skin using various ex vivo, in vivo, and in vitro models, with a particular focus on the induction of phosphorylated ribosomal protein S6.

His doctoral research focuses on the characterisation and evaluation of a therapy for the treatment of actinic keratoses and squamous cell carcinoma. These skin conditions are a common occupational disease among workers with increased levels of sun exposure.
