Invited by Johannes Zipperle and institute director Johannes Grillari, the day was all about the inspiring overlap between biology and contemporary art, showing how creative practice and scientific research can inform one another. Thomas Feuerstein showed great interest in our imaging and tissue engineering projects, as well as the innovative work of Patrick Heimel, Bioimaging group leader.

The visit also included a guided tour at our Austrian Cluster for Tissue Regeneration partner FH Technikum Wien, where Janine Tomasch introduced the team to the bioreactors used in current research and gave an overview of the ‘Tissue Engineering & Regenerative Medicine’ degree program. And above all, thank you to Thomas Feuerstein for his visit and for generously gifting us a signed copy of the exhibition book Metabolica, currently on view at MuseumsQuartier Wien. The book is now proudly part of our institute library.
