Red Light Therapy Shines on National Television

Our photobiomodulation research, focusing on the beneficial effects of red light for chronic wound healing, was recently featured on ORF2, reaching a broad audience with two insightful TV segments.

In the program “Bewusst Gesund”, viewers were introduced to a compelling case study. The segment, titled “BESTRAHLUNG MIT SPÄTFOLGEN”, told the story of Claudia Wilfing, a formed clinical study administrator and always close friend of LBI Trauma. After undergoing a treatment with X-rays and a prolonged stay under the African sun (where she managed a laboratory in Kenya as part of development aid), Claudia developed a skin carcinoma on her head. Although the cancer was successfully removed, the resulting wound failed to heal despite more than 10 surgical interventions and even a skin transplant. Only when she turned to the photobiomodulation group and received red light therapy, Claudia’s condition improved dramatically—an inspiring example of how targeted photobiomodulation can make a real difference in chronic wound healing.

The story was retold two days later the program “G’sund in Österreich”, which took a broader look at the influence of light on our health. This episode delved into the dual nature of light—as both a vital life source and, in excess, a potential hazard. Peter Dungel, head of our Photobiomodulation group, explained how specific wavelengths, like pulsing red light, can stimulate and enhance the body’s healing processes, underscoring the growing importance of photobiomodulation in modern medicine.
