PhDone x3: New PhD graduates at LBI Trauma
Congratulations to Miriam Zintl, Johannes Oesterreicher, and Oona Jung! Over the past few weeks, three of our researchers have successfully defended their doctoral theses.
Miriam Zintl completed her PhD at TU Vienna with a thesis titled “PVA-based Materials for Hemostasis and Wound Healing”. Her work was supervised by Stefan Baudis and Heinz Redl, with additional support from Paul Slezak, Raffael Reichsöllner, and Sandra Drozd. Miriam impressed not only in the lab but also on the scientific stage; most notably by winning a Young Investigator Award at the annual meeting of the Austrian Cluster for Tissue Regeneration.
Johannes Oesterreicher defended his thesis “Engineering Extracellular Vesicles: Reducing Thrombogenicity and Targeting the Lymphatic Vasculature” at BOKU Vienna. He has been closely connected to LBI Trauma since his undergraduate studies and was mentored throughout by Wolfgang Holnthoner. As part of the NanoPrecMed project, Johannes made important contributions to science communication and is the first PhD graduate of the NanoPrecMed consortium.
Oona Jung, who also completed her doctorate at BOKU Vienna, presented her thesis titled “CargoSCites – Enucleated ASCs as Delivery Vehicles in Traumatic Spinal Cord Injury”. Her research, supervised by Johannes Grillari and David Hercher, explores the use of enucleated stem cells as delivery vehicles for therapeutic applications in spinal cord injury.
We warmly congratulate our newly graduated colleagues and look forward to witnessing their future impact in the scientific community.
