Dr. Paul Slezak earns venia docendi in anatomy

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Paul Slezak has been awarded the venia docendi in Anatomy by the Medical University of Vienna.

In his habilitation thesis titled “Anatomic Considerations in Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy – From Bed to Benchside,” Paul distilled years of work at LBI Trauma on how anatomical structures shape the safety, precision, and regenerative potential of shockwave therapy. His research bridges clinical experience, biophysical modeling, and basic biology, and means an important advancement to how ESWT is used and understood in practice.

A special thank you goes to Heinz Redl and Wolfgang Schaden, whose mentorship and expertise have supported Paul throughout his career, and to the chair of the habilitation committee, Prof. Crevenna Richard.

To translate his academic achievements into real-world impact, Paul has co-founded WaveVision, a new company dedicated to improving education and the safe, effective application of shockwave therapy.

We congratulate Dr. Slezak on this important milestone and look forward to his continued contributions to the field at LBI Trauma and beyond.
