Congratulations to Priv.-Doz. DDr. Johannes Zipperle on his habilitation
We are pleased to announce that Johannes Zipperle has been awarded the Venia Docendi in Experimental Anesthesiology.
With his habilitation, DDr. Johannes Zipperle (Translational Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine Group) has reached a significant academic milestone. In his thesis, “Cellular Modulation and Dysregulation of Hemostasis in Critical Illness” he examines the role of immune cells, platelets, and endothelial cells in the development and diagnosis of coagulation disorders, such as those occurring after severe trauma or in the context of sepsis.
Johannes’ research builds on more than a decade of intensive work at LBI Trauma. In his studies, he combined laboratory models, clinical data, and innovative diagnostic methods such as thromboelastometry and flow cytometry. A particular focus was placed on extracellular vesicles (EVs), which he investigates as potential biomarkers for personalized therapeutic approaches in critically ill patients.
The habilitation thesis comprises several high-impact publications and is the result of close collaboration with researchers from the Paracelsus Medical University (PMU), LBI Trauma, and numerous colleagues, including Herbert Schöchl, Gerhard Fritsch, Johannes Grillari, Heinz Redl, Wolfgang Holnthoner, Daniel Oberladstätter, Soheyl Bahrami, Marcin Osuchowski, and Christoph Schlimp.
We warmly congratulate Johannes on his habilitation and thank him for his outstanding scientific commitment.
